Restoring hope and dignity one person at a time
So Others Might Eat has served Washington, DC for over 40 years, working to
- Feed and clothe DC’s homeless and poor
- Treat ill, homeless people at our medical, dental and mental health programs
- Train people for jobs and house homeless families and single adults
Over the years, we have helped thousands of people get off the streets, transform their lives, and live
independently.

Special Tax Break in 2013 for Senior Citizens!
If you own an IRA account and are at least 70½ years of age, you can donate your IRA withdrawals to charity through tax year 2013. Transferring an IRA distribution to a charity allows retirees to avoid paying income tax on the amount withdrawn, and these qualified charitable distributions can be used to satisfy IRA required minimum distributions.
