The only turkey trot in the District, the Trot for Hunger is a tradition for area residents and a meaningful way to remember people in need on Thanksgiving Day. The 5K Run/Walk is held on Thanksgiving morning at 9:00am on Freedom Plaza.

The SOME Junior Gala is an evening of cocktails and dancing for young professionals held every February. The event supports SOME's Affordable Housing programs for the homeless and very low income.

Each March SOME hosts two Empty Bowls soup suppers in collaboration with the Corcoran College of Art and Design and other area potters. Empty Bowls is an opportunity to raise awareness about the growing issue of hunger in Washington, DC and to provide meals for the District’s hungry and homeless.
