Course Information

Trot Course MapCourse: The walk and run will begin and end on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 13th Street, NW and 12th Street, NW at Freedom Plaza. Participants will proceed southeast on Pennsylvania Avenue from Freedom Plaza. They will proceed south on 3rd Street.  They will go southeast one block on Washington Avenue, SW and then continue onto 2nd Street, SW.  Participants will go west one block on E Street, SW and turn right onto 3rd Street, SW.  They will then turn left from 3rd Street onto Independence Avenue, SW and proceed to the turnaround (which is just before the western intersection of Maryland Avenue, SW.)  They will proceed east on Independence Avenue, SW, turn left to head north on 3rd Street, and turn left again to proceed northwest on Pennsylvania Avenue to the finish line.

This course is USATF-certified course DC-03044-RT. It is the same route used for the annual Jingle Bell Run (5K) and very similar to other routes used by races originating at Freedom Plaza.

Course Safety: A first aid tent staffed by registered nurses will be available at the Start/Finish line. Police and race officials will be stationed along the course to ensure trotter safety. Bicycles, skateboards, and roller blades will not be permitted along the course. Dogs on leashes, baby joggers and strollers are welcome; however, they must remain on the right side of the course throughout.
