Books for the Brain
Your gift provides much needed textbooks to four adults attending SOME's Center for Employment Training (CET). Textbooks are the first step in helping students to obtain the education and skills necessary to break out of the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
CET provides hands-on job training in marketable skill areas as well as "soft skills," such as perseverance and professionalism, which are critical to obtaining and maintaining employment. After clients complete their training, job placement counselors help them identify job opportunities, develop a resume, and practice interviewing in order to obtain a position earning a living wage and benefits.
