Trot for Hunger!

Getting There

Trot for Hunger Race Map

The race will begin and end on Ohio Drive, SW between Independence Avenue and West Basin Drive. Click here for directions. Please allow enough time to get to the line-up area and pick-up your race packet prior to the 8:30 am start time.

Metro: Trotters are encouraged to take Metro services which open at 7:00 am on race day. There are a number of stops that are close to the start/finish line:

  • Arlington Cemetery (Blue Line) - 1.1 miles from the start
  • Foggy Bottom (Orange & Blue Lines) - 1.2 miles from the start
  • Smithsonian (Orange & Blue Lines) - 1.3 miles from the start
  • Metro Center (Red, Orange & Blue) - shuttle services to the start

Be sure to start for the race site early, especially if you are coming from the outlying stops. Factor in enough time for the train plus check-in or warm-up.

Parking: There will be no parking on Ohio Dr. in West Potomac Park or on West Basin Dr. (the road that runs past the FDR Memorial). This means no parking along the Potomac River between 23rd and Independence Ave. and the Inlet Bridge or in the vicinity of the FDR Memorial. Furthermore, Ohio Drive will be closed to through traffic shortly after 8:00 am and will not re-open until after all participants have completed the race (approximately 9:30 am).

There are a limited number of parking spaces in lots in East Potomac Park near the 14th St. Bridge and Metro overpasses (0.9 miles from the start) and the Tidal Basin Boathouse (0.8 miles from the start). Suggested parking areas include Constitution Avenue and surrounding side streets. Street closings on Ohio Drive begin as early as 8:00 am. Please do not plan to show up at the race site after 7:15 am and expect to find parking anywhere in the vicinity of the start/finish line.

Shuttle Bus: A shuttle bus will run from Metro Center (12th & F Street corner) to the starting line approximately every 10 minutes between 7:00 and 8:10 am. The shuttle will also be available to return trotters to Metro Center following the race.
