Zagami House
In February of 2008 12 formerly homeless and extremely low income families moved into Zagami House, SOME's newest affordable housing program for families. In addition to safe, decent housing the Zagami House program includes support services designed to help families to live increasingly productive and independent lives.
As at all of SOME's affordable housing programs for families, parents at Zagami House pay 30 percent of their gross monthly income as rent and work with a case manager to save money and improve their parenting skills. The children at Zagami House participate in after school enrichment activities including tutoring, mentorship and art classes and work with a Child Development Specialist to reach academic, behavioral and social goals.
Giant, KaBOOM! and SOME
Build a Playground
Thank you to Giant Food, KaBOOM! and the more than 200 volunteers who helped build a playground at SOME's Zagami House on April 11. The fantastic new playground will support SOME’s mission of providing services that value the dignity of the people it serves by offering a safe community space for the families at Zagami House. SOME is grateful to the organizers and attendees of the 2008 SOME Junior Gala for helping to make the playground possible.
