SOME's volunteers for Elderly Services

Two friends enjoy a chat at SOME's Dwelling Place Senior Center.

A critical part of SOME's mission is to provide direct services to the most needy and most vulnerable of Washington, DC. The elderly poor are among those that SOME strives to help.

Volunteers serve homebound District seniors through our Caregivers Program by visiting them, doing light housekeeping and errands, and providing telephone companionship.

SOME's Senior Summer Camp provides a relaxing week-long retreat in West Virginia for low-income seniors who are not able to afford a vacation.

Participants at SOME's Dwelling Place Senior Center enjoy daily hot meals, transportation, activities and field trips.

The most vulnerable of seniors, those who have been physically or financially mistreated or neglected, are provided shelter and care at SOME's Dwelling Place Shelter for Abused Elderly. Here, seniors find temporary housing and social services to help them regain their lives in a dignified and safe manner.
