Post Recovery Transitional Housing
Leland Place is a transitional-housing and job-readiness program for 29 homeless men recovering from addictions. This program is designed to help homeless recovering men transition toward independence. Clients are given basic skills tutoring, workshops in relapse prevention, and job readiness skills. Residents are then guided through the process of making job contacts, going to interviews and obtaining a job. In addition to job readiness training, residents have the option of more formal employment training at SOME's Center for Employment Training (CET). Harvest House is SOME's transitional-housing and job-readiness program for homeless women. The program is modeled after the Leland Place program, and it boasts success rates approaching 90%. The purpose of this program is to instill hope to homeless women by providing tools for empowerment through the process of recovery from addiction and the stabilization of mental health. As with Leland Place, the Harvest House program has five phases. Phase 1 is Orientation. Residents have basic skills testing and are acquainted with the staff, residents, schedules and the rules and regulation. During Phase 2, relapse prevention is stressed in workshops, recovery support groups, and through an individual treatment plan. Tutoring and household skills are also given. In Phase 3, employment readiness, including basic skills such as resume writing and job finding basics, is taught. Or, residents may enroll in SOME's 6 month job training program, CET. Phase 4 is the job search phase. Residents receive assistance in obtaining job contacts, job counseling and continue to participate in recovery support groups. In the final phase, Phase 5, residents learn money management skills, participate in relapse management counseling, and receive counseling about future housing options. Finally, they are introduced to SOME's Continuing Care groups and individual counseling. Both Leland Place and Harvest House are located near public transportation and services. Rooms are attractive and comfortable and residents are provided hot, nutritious meals. Leland Place
