Michael Kirwan House

Michael Kirwan House

Michael Kirwan House is a "Safe House" for homeless persons who are waiting to be placed in our residential addiction treatment programs (Maya Angelou House or Exodus House). It is used to safely house our most vulnerable pre-residential treatment clients, all of who are new to recovery and could easily relapse into chemical dependency. Kirwan House has a staff of dedicated individuals who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The support and structure of Kirwan House is therapeutic and provides a caring, recovery-focused environment for people who are in treatment.

The Michael Kirwan House is named after the activist who purchased the property that has served the homeless since 1991. After his death in 1999, the Kirwan family managed the house for a few years, but decided the best way to continue Michael's tradition of hospitality to the homeless was to donate the property to SOME.
