Dwelling Place Shelter for Abused Elderly

Dwelling Place Shelter for Abused Elderly is a seven-bed shelter for senior citizens who have been physically abused or financially exploited. It is a transitional shelter that offers a safe haven and assistance to find affordable housing.

Those individuals who are 60 years of age or older who suffer physical or emotional distress that is inflicted by another person, those who face eviction or who have been evicted and do not have the resources for finding adequate housing, and those who are defenseless before the threat of personal violence are considered abused elderly.

At Dwelling Place Shelter for Abused Elderly, residents have their own rooms and receive hot, nutritious meals and clothing. The staff of Dwelling Place help residents to obtain Social Security and public benefits. Medical, dental and psychiatric services are offered, as well as counseling in the areas of housing, nutrition and family relations.
