SOME relies on the support of volunteers and Provide-A-Meal groups to serve more than 800 meals to hungry people each day.

Program Highlights

SOME served 248,205 hot nutritious meals in its Dining Rooms in 2011.

SOME provided 22,306 free sets of clothing and showers to homeless clients in 2011.

SOME's Dining Rooms for the Homeless have been serving the District’s neediest individuals since 1970. Breakfast and lunch are served each day to all who come to SOME. Our priority is to serve everyone with dignity and respect with no questions asked.

Often times, the dining rooms are a gateway for the homeless to access other necessary services SOME provides. Through the help of thousands of volunteers, SOME is able to serve over 800 meals each day in our dining rooms alone. Learn about volunteering in our Dining Rooms and about how you can provide meals for the homeless.

The Dining Room for Women and Children was established in response to the growing number of homeless women and children. It is a separate dining area where women and children can enjoy a meal in a quieter, more private eating space.

Clothing and Shower Rooms

The Clothing and Shower Rooms offer homeless men and women access to hot showers, free clothing, and restroom facilities. The Clothing and Shower Rooms are designed to maintain individuals' personal dignity by recognizing the importance of cleanliness and good hygiene. On average, more than 35 homeless adults visit SOME's clothing and shower rooms each day.
