Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) Fact Sheet
- The Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) is integral to the success of the SOME CET program as it provides support to CET in accomplishing the goal of training and placing qualified individuals in jobs that pay a living wage.
- IAB members are often executives, officers, human resources managers, recruiters and other management staff in the labor market areas related to the CET program. IAB members can also be elected officials and community members.
- Current IAB member companies include: Marriott Renaissance Mayflower, Archstone Smith, Providence Hospital, PNC, William C. Smith, Grand Hyatt and many more.
- The IAB members come from CET’s three occupation areas, Building Maintenance, Medical Administration, and Business and Customer Relations.
The goals of the IAB are the following:
- Oversee the Technical Advisory Committees that review course curricula, training materials and course content
- Contribute a variety of resources to ensure CET operations, including volunteer time, in-kind donations and financial contributions
- Help CET graduates locate good jobs
- Help expand employer partnerships by suggesting and recruiting new employers
- Provide advice on SOME CET operations and strategic success
The IAB meets quarterly. The Chair of the IAB is selected from among the employer members. Interested in learning more?
