Technical Advisory Committees (TAC's) Fact Sheet
- Each skills training program at the SOME Center for Employment Training (CET) must have a Technical Adivsory Committee (TAC) with five to eight members who are direct supervisors, team leaders, department managers, and specialized personnel from various area employers. These individuals understand the skills that are required of entry-level personnel in their field.
- While the Industrial Advisory Board is focused on larger issues of hiring and SOME CET operations, the TAC's are smaller committees developed for each skill area to ensure that CET training programs, curricula, materials and equipment are consistent with industry standards.
- Each TAC should meet three times per year to discuss employment trends and demands, changes within industries, technology updates, and ways to improve CET training. Employer needs and expectations, wages and job opportunities should also be discussed.
- Yearly, TAC members will review class curricula to suggest improvements. SOME CET will make changes as agreed upon by the TAC.
- TAC members are often staff recommended by IAB members. The TAC's report their progress to the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) and the IAB oversees the TAC's.
- The TAC Chair is from the private sector, while the Co-Chair is a CET staff member.
