Program Highlights

Ninety-four percent of the single adults and families who live in SOME's supportive-service housing maintain their health, sobriety and income.

The power of a secure and stable environment in the lives of our clients is dramatic: nearly 94% of SOME clients who live in a safe, decent home, stay clean and sober, keep a job, and maintain good health.

This is why SOME has been providing affordable, safe housing with support programs for poor and homeless families and single adults for the past 22 years.

Housing for Homeless FamiliesSOME offers safe and dignified affordable apartments for extremely poor and homeless families in the District.  Since the Fall of 2005, SOME has opened four new affordable housing programs for 68 families. These programs include playgrounds and community spaces for the enrichment of the 160 children living in our family housing.

Housing for Homeless Single Adults: SOME provides single adults with affordable efficiencies and single rooms.  Tenants sign a renewable one-year lease and pay rent and their living expenses. Rent is set at 30% of each resident's income, which enables participants to save for self-sufficient living. Residents must follow house rules, maintain their sobriety and pay their rent on time.

All families and single adults have case management and other social services to help them become even more independent and self-sufficient.
