Sixty low-income, homebound seniors are served through SOME's Caregivers Program
Fans and Window Units Needed
The low-income seniors who participate SOME's Dwelling Place Senior Center and in the Caregivers program for homebound elderly are in need of fans and window units. Many of these seniors do not have air conditioning in their homes and are at risk during the hot Washington summers. Fans and window units that are new or in excellent condition can be delivered to SOME. If you would like additional information, please contact Kate Topping at 202.581.8000 or ktopping@some.org.
Senior Caregivers
Volunteers are needed to provide companionship to the homebound and isolated elderly. Volunteers may assist in food delivery, errand running, transportation to and from medical appointments, telephone reassurance, preparation of light meals, and/or light housekeeping. This opportunity would be great for an individual as well as for a small group of volunteers to work as a care team for one homebound senior citizen.

Dwelling Place Senior Center
Dwelling Place Senior Center is looking for volunteers to facilitate both individual projects and group projects. We are looking for individuals available to escort participants on trips or walks in the neighborhood. Fitness instructors, dance Instructors, manicurists, hair stylist or braider, painter, and ceramics instructor are needed to lead classes and workshops with seniors in our day program.
Volunteers are needed to facilitate a group birthday party for our seniors. Volunteers are also needed to conduct a mini-church service. Suggested ideas to conduct the service would be prayer and devotion, piano playing, singing, and scripture reading. This is a wonderful opportunity for small groups that want to volunteer on a regular basis.
Volunteer groups that are able to commit to once a month for one hour are preferred.
