Regular tutors help Paul and the more than 100 other children who participate in regular after-school programming at SOME's safe, affordable housing programs for families to hone their academic skills.

Family Service Programs
SOME’s Family Service Programs are seeking energetic adults to tutor and mentor at-risk youth, ages 5-18. Volunteers will work with the child on homework assignments, skill development, and overall strengthening of academic areas where the child is challenged in school.  Tutors also support staff in creating fun and interactive activities that help the children learn with resources and support provided by the program staff.

We are seeking volunteers who can commit one hour per week for a minimum period of six months.  Volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday evenings at our four Family Services Programs:

Independence Place: 2802 N St, SE
Barnaby House/Chesapeake House: 740 Barnaby St, SE
Zagami House: 1701 19th St, SE
Thea Bowman House: 4065 Minnesota Ave, NE

For more details and for information on our upcoming Family Services Volunteers orientation, please contact: Beth McClimens at (202) 797-8806 ext. 2102 or bmcclimens@some.org
