SOME’s annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger is a time-honored tradition, bringing together over 8,000 participants from the DC area for the District’s only turkey trot. This year, to keep our mission moving during coronavirus, Trot for Hunger will be virtual -- we are encouraging our Trot for Hunger participants to run/walk in their neighborhood or local park during the month of November.
SOME’s Annual Dinner Gala and Silent Auction, held in November, celebrates our work, raises support for affordable housing, and honors our McKenna Humanitarian of the Year.
The SOME Winter Ball is a wonderful evening of cocktails, live music, and dancing for young professionals that benefits affordable housing for families. The Winter Ball is held in February.
In March, SOME hosts Empty Bowls soup suppers to raise awareness of the issue of hunger in Washington, DC. Proceeds help SOME continue to provide up to 1,000 meals a day to those experiencing hunger in the District.
